Eating Out and Using Local Restaurant Coupons

Do you enjoy eating out at local restaurants but find that your budget does not go as far as it used to?  Well you are not alone! Restaurants are offering coupons to get you in their doors. Below are a number of ways for you to locate these coupons and start saving money on your dining dollars.

Restaurant coupons are a great way to save money on meals.  If your local restaurant has a website, be certain to review it before going out to eat.  Many times you will find coupons on their website. The local newspaper, especially on Sunday, is a valuable source of coupons. If Valpak is available in your community, it usually contains restaurant coupons as well.  Valpak also has a website. Enter your zip code and printout one of the digital restaurant coupons. Any local publication is a potential source for restaurant coupons, so don’t hesitate to glance thru these local guides and publications.

Frequency discounts are also a type of coupon.  In most cases, it is in the form of a free punch card that the restaurant hands out to its customers.  After you have dined there 6-10 times, you will receive a free meal or side dish.  Be sure to take advantage of this benefit.

If you sign up for the restaurant’s email notification or newsletter, you will often receive special savings: Chili’s, Olive Garden, Texas Road House, Darden’s, Cracker Barrel, etc… just to name a few.

Now here is a coupon suggestion that I just discovered: type the name of the restaurant along with the city and state into http://maps.google.com.  If the restaurant has a listing on the map, click the location indicator.  This will give you an expanded box of information about the restaurant. Right below the name of the restaurant at the top of the box, click “more info >>”.  Note the tabs below the map.  If there is a coupon tab, click it and check out the coupon offer.

One last money savings suggestion: if you really enjoyed your meal, contact the manager and tell him/her about your experience.  Ask if they provide complimentary meals or coupons for reviews and positive feedback on their website.  This is a win-win-win situation – the restaurant gets good publicity, the community gets good information, and you save some money.
